Aromatherapy, a Natural Anxiety Treatment

Essential oils have been in use for centuries by natural healers, to relieve the symptoms of a wide variety of ailments. It wasn’t until the first part of the twentieth century that the science of aromatherapy was developed and essential oils proven to have an effect on symptoms.

Since then, the popularity of aromatherapy has spread, and today it is in use in a wide range of alternative therapies.

Aromatherapy has been used successfully for stress-relief for years, and now it has a proven application for anxiety and depression sufferers. The essential oils used in aromatherapy work through the sense of smell to affect the mood. This gives a temporary relief of the symptoms of anxiety, although it cannot completely cure the disorder. How the essential oils are used.

You can smell the oil from the bottle or sprinkle a few drops onto a handkerchief. These methods are good to have on hand in case you have a sudden panic attack. There are other ways to use the oils:

Oil diffusers - these are small pottery lamps that burn a tea light candle under a dish which holds some water and a few drops of essential oil. As the water warms, the oil is diffused into the air, releasing its therapeutic properties.

Baths - add a few drops of essential oil to a warm bath, and soak in it to relieve tension, headache and anxiety.

Panic Disorder Facts - “Can I Die?”

So…the question you have been "dieing" to ask and seek assurance from, can you really die from panic attack?

Well the answer is…NO!

Panic attack can NEVER kill you but most sufferers don’t believe A really severe anxiety attack? that because of the terrifying symptoms they have experienced. I know that it can be difficult to accept. Suddenly, without any warning, your heart start racing, you have difficulty breathing, you feel dizzy, start trembling, and fear that something terrible is about to happen to you.

Without any prior knowledge of panic attack, its perfectly normal to feel afraid and fear that your going to die. However, you need to understand that this panic response is coming from you, and given enough time, they will eventually fade away by itself. These are the facts and the living prove is yourself! Despite all these "near-death" sensation, what happen in the end? You will ALWAYS be fine and so, panic attack can NEVER kill you.

During panic attack, its very common to feel heart palpitation (extra What are the symptoms of anxiety?heartbeat) and chest pain. The first instinctive thought that jumps straight into your mind is "Heart attack", but is it? Obviously not! Without an existing heart condition, you cannot simply have a heart attack just like that. For the lack of a better term, sufferers just associate "Heart attack" to their symptoms, when its not!

The second most common symptoms is the fear of losing control. You start trembling and shaking badly. Instinctive, you start to think that your have a "Seizure" or "Stroke", but is it? Obviously not! Without a history of epilepsy or medical condition, you cannot suffer from seizure or stroke just like that. Again, for the lack of a better term, sufferers just loosely associate their symptoms to "Seizure" or "Stroke", when its not!

As you can see, there’s a perfectly logical explanation for every single symptoms of panic attack. The main thing you NEED to take note here is this: None of them can kill you or even harm you in anyway. You will ALWAYS be fine.

So…can you die from panic attack?

NO!

Tips to Calm Your Nerves

2.Listen to some music or a relaxation CD. This will help distract you from thinking about your current stressors.

3.Stop obsessive thoughts. Keep busy as much as possible outside your home is even better to avoid getting bored.

4.Stop talking about your past. If you must, seek counseling for professional help. Soon after try to move on with your life and leave your past behind.

5.Breathe slowly. This will help you to relieve some of the tension you are experiencing within minutes.

6.Count to ten. This technique can help you to maintain focused and avoid saying or engaging into inappropriate behaviors you would later regret.

7.Use positive affirmations. Talking to yourself is always a useful self-care tool one can depend on anytime you want to avoid a nervous break down or losing control over your feelings.

8.Be gentle with yourself. Avoid putting yourself down or being negative, as this will only stress you out more.

9.Sleep or take a nap. Rest is important when it comes to taking care of one’s body. When you get tired you become irritable and stressed, which may lead to health problems.

15. Stop working so hard. You should always try to balance out your life when it comes to your family and work. Too much work can lead to serious health problems and not enough personal time can lead to relationship problems and severe emotional problems including anxiety and depression

16. Ask for assistance. It can be helpful to receive support and/or get advice from family and friends during a difficult and stressful time.

17. Do something fun. Fun is always good for stress and life in general.

18. Live today and plan for tomorrow. Take it one day at a time to avoid overloading yourself with too many worries and /or planning that can wait for another day.

19. Write in a journal. Share what’s on your mind and the feelings you may have to help get them off your chest.

20. Laugh or smile more. This is a relaxing thing to do and helps one to maintain a good mood and positive attitude. Watch a funny show, movie or go to a comedy club near you.

21. Choose your battles wisely. Learn to ignore or let go of the small stuff. (e.g. losing money, items, forgetting things, problematic people etc.) If it is not worth your time and can be ignored, do it and do not look back.

22. Clean your house. Cleaning and organization can be very good for stress and comfort. It will also help you to keep busy and keep up with your home.

23. Be optimistic. Stop being negative, as this is very stressful thing to do to oneself all day, everyday.

24. Stop trying to be perfect. Nothing ever is nor will it be. This only provides false expectations, which lead to one becoming overly stressed over certain situations.

25. Stop trying to always be in control. Learn to relax and do what you can. Being able to accept what one can and cannot control is not easy but also helpful when dealing with everyday stressors. This is also an example of one choosing their battles.
